Abstract

Polyethylene (PE) has been modified by a small amount of mixing ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer. The water treeing in PE modified was also studied. The paper analyses the reason forming water treeing in PE and mechanism suppressing water treeing. The condition forming water treeing is water drop existing in the structure defect in PE. And the method suppressing the water treeing is just reducing water drop. We found an optimum EAA content suppressing water treeing. PE sample with 1.0% wt EAA can be studied further in cable insulation.
