Abstract
As one of the newly emerged critical school in 1980s',new historicism is believed to be the contextualized reading poetics of cultural interpretation and political criticism.However,the studies of new historicism have different cultural imprints.So taking Greenblatt and his cultural poetics as a study case,this essay intends to provide an overview of the research findings in both Chinese and Western culture in the retrospection of new historicism's development,and revaluate its theoretical legacies in the Chinese context.
