Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of digital mammography, ultrasonography and fine needle aspiration biopsy(FNAB)in the diagnosis of breast cancer respectively. Methods Fifty-seven patients with palpable breast mass(2cm in diameter)were examined by digital mammography, ultrasonography and FNAB respectively, and the results were compared with the final pathology. Results Among the 57 patients,24 were confirmed to be breast cancer by pathology. Both digital mammography and ultrasonography could detect the mass. The diagnosis of cancer was made by digital mammography in 19 cases, with sensitivity 79.17% and speciality 87.88%,while 4 cases were confirmed by ultrasonography, with sensitivity 16.67% and speciality 96.97%,and was 21 cases were comfirmed by FNAB,with sensitivity 87.50% and specifility 93.94%.Mammography and FNAB were better than ultrasonography in both sensitivity and speciality(P0.01),and there was no significant difference between the digital mammography and FNAB.Conclusions Digital mammography and FNAB can give a quite reliable diagnostic value in breast cancer, especially the two modalities are performed jointly.
