Abstract
AIM:To investigate the neuroprotective effect of Genistein on morphological changes in cultured hippocampal neurons following β-Amyloid(25-35)-induced apoptosis.METHODS:The model of damage was induced by Aβ25-35 and the changes of cell morphology were observed.Apoptosis in hippocampal neurons induced by Aβ25-35 was detected with hoechst33342 and PI co-staining method.NSE and Tunel double-staining assay were also conducted.RESULTS:Compared with that in Aβ25-35 only group, the morphology damage of hippocampal neurons in Genistein model group was less severe and apoptosis in Genistein model group was obviously lower.CONCLUSION:Genistein, with some neuroprotective or anti-apoptotic effects, plays an important role in up-regulating the hippocampal neuronal survival during the process of Aβ25-35-induced damage.
