Abstract
Objective To assess the utility of the colored liquid medium for detecting mycohacteria. Methods The colored liquid medium and the modified Roche medium were used respectively to culture mycohacteria of sputum in 113 tuberculosis and 24 non-tuberculosis patients, and the acid-fast stain was also been performed. Results The positive rate of using the. colored liquid medium was 54.9%(62/l 13), with the, average time for result being 12days(3~17days), while the modified Roche medium, the positive rate was 52.2%(59/l 13), with the time 29 days(14~42days). The results showed no significant difference(.x2=0.16,P0.05). As to the 24 non-tuberculosis patients, the negative results, were obtained after using the acid-fast slain, the modified Roche medium and the colored liquid medium. Conclusion It is valuable to promote the utility of detecting myeobacteria by the colored liguid medium according to the high positive rate, short time and no requiring for special equipment.
