Abstract
Objective To analyze the effect of biofeedback pelvic floor training with electrical stimulation for stress urinary incontinence(SUI) or mixed urinary incontinence(MUI) in women.Methods From May 2006 to June 2007,40 female patients with urinary incontinence were underwent biofeedback pelvic floor training with electrical stimulation,including 22 cases of SUI and 18 of MUI.The pelvic muscle electromyography was measured by biofeedback instrument.The overall course time was lasted for 2 months with 20 to 30 minutes per time,thrice per week.Results 40 cases were follow up for average 8.9 months(3~14 months).14 cases(35.0%) were cured,16(40.0%) improved and 10(25.0%) failed,and the total effective rate was 75.0%.Among them,the effective rate of SUI was 77.3%(17/22) and MUI was 72.2%(13/18).Except light discomfort occurred in a few patients when the probe inserted in vagina,no other adverse effect was observed during the treatment.But 5 cases with valid effect relapsed.Conclusions Biofeedback pelvic floor training and electrical stimulation is a safe and effective treatment for female SUI or MUI with high cure rate.Self Kegel training after treatment will reduce the urinary incontinence recurrence.
