Abstract
Objective: To investigate the correlation of vascular factors and vascular dementia by the carotid artery color Doppler. Methods: The carotid arteries in 34 patients with VD and 20 normal controls(NC group)were examined by the carotid artery color Doppler. Results: Peak systolic velocity(PSV)and drag index(RI)of bilateral common carotid artery and bilateral internal carotid artery in VaD group were greater than those in the normal group.PSV and RI of left common carotid artery and RI of left internal carotid artery in VaD group were greater than those in the normal group(P0.05).Intima media thickness(IMT)of bilateral carotid artery in VD group was higher than those in the normal group(P0.05).Conclusion: Blood circulation of the carotid artery may be related to the pathogenesis of VD.
