Abstract
A novel fluorimetry for studying on the interaction differences between mono-[2-O-(2-hydroxypropyl)]-β-cyclodextrin(HPCD) and β- cyclodextrin(β-CD) with pyrene was established. I_1/I_3 of pyrene, the effect of pH on the I_1/I_3 in two CDs aqueous solutions, inclusion constants of β-CD and HPCD with pyrene were investigated with the method. The experimental results indicated that pyrene formed a 1∶2 complex with β-CD due to the formation of hydrogen bonds between the two adjacent β-CDs. However, only a 1∶1 inclusion complex was formed between pyrene and HPCD, because of the steric hindrance of propyl group in HPCD.
