Present Status and Prevention of Nitrate Accumulation in Vegetables in Zhejiang Province

Nitrate concentrations in 17 vegetables collected from 8 vegetable provenances in Zhejiang Province were analyzed.The Results showed that nitrate concentrations in vegetables in Zhejiang Province can meet the requirement of the national edible standards for vegetables.The Investigation also indicated that leafy vegetables contain much higher concentrations of nitrate than that in other vegetables.It was suggested that selection of vegetable species and controlling N supply in late stage be an effective way to control nitrate accumulation in vegetables.
