Abstract

Humor depends on the vagueness of language.Metaphor,irony and hyperbole constitute its technique of expression.Therefore,humor is the embodiment of metaphorical use.Relevance Theory has the most explanatory power as regards humor's production mechanism and pragmatic function.In the article,highlight is on the explanation of humor from the viewpoint of relevance theory.
