A Study on the Somatotype of Urban Han from Xing'an League of Inner Mongolia

The Heath-Carter somatotyping method was used to study the somatotype of 319 urban adults(144 males and 175 females)of Han from Xing'an league of Inner Mongolia.The results were as follows:(1)The mean somatotype values of the male and female were 4.4-5.6-1.7 and 6.1-5.4-1.3 in urban districts respectively,which represent the endomorphic mesomorph category in the male and mesomorphic endomorph category in the female.(2)After 30 years old,the values of endomorphy and mesomorphy increased obviously,while the values of ectomorphy decreased clearly in urban males and females,and changed slightly with growth in males.In females,with age after 40 years old,the values of endomorphy and mesomorphy increased and the values of ectomorphy decreased to some extents.(3)There were significant differences between males and females in the somatotypes.In conclusion,the somatotype of urban adults from Xing'an league of Inner Mongolia was close to that of the northern ethnic groups in China.
