Spatial differences comparison between National Nature Reserves and National Forest Park

Nature reserve and Forestry park both are the main protected tools of biodiversity in China.based on geographical data of National Nature Reserve and National Forestry Park in 31 provinces, we analyzed these two kinds of protected patterns in distribution via Central index of geography, Gini coefficient and Arcgis 9.3 software. Found that these two types concentrated in east China where population density was high, but northwest district were comparatively low. And their management approaches and tourism development patterns are different because of their distinct aims. In the future, more chance should be provided to west part of China to prompt the protected patterns construction and the Nature Reserve should develop variety of operation modes on the base of resource protection. As a kind of supplements of the nature reserve, the national forestry park must have an important positive effect on our nature protection career.
