Abstract
An aqueous solution polymerization method was used to prepare polyacrylate of high molecular weight. A co-initiator system which was consisted of a redox initiation system and an azo compound. Effect of component dosage, temperature, acrylic acid neutralization as well as the concentration of monomer on Mw of polyacrylate sodium were studied. And the co-initiator system was compared with the redox initiation system. The optimum condition was obtained, the component of the initiators were:M=0.48‰,K2S2O8=0.2‰,NaHSO3=0.2‰,CO(NH)2=5‰,NH2CH2CH2NH2=5‰. The reaction temperature was 25℃. The acrylic acid neutralization was 80%. The concentration of monomer was 25%. The highest molecular weight of polyacrylate sodium was up to 14.7 million.
