Abstract

Objective To explore the value of serum procalcitonin(PCT)and high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP)to the diagnosis of early neonatal sepsis. Methods The serum PCT and hs-CRP levels were detected by electrochemical luminescence method and immuneturbidimetric test respectively and were compared in 33cases of neonatal sepsis(sepsis group),41cases of neonatal local infection(infection group)and 38 newborns with no infection(noninfection group). Results The serum PCT levels were(12.3±11.6),(0.26±0.25)and(0.09±0.07)μg/L,and hs-CRP levels were(22.5±20.1),(3.21±3.06)and(0.85±0.33)mg/L respectively in sepsis group, infection group and noninfection group, showing significant differences among three groups(P0.05).The sensibilities of PCT and hsCRP were 84.8% and 87.9%,and the specificities of PCT and hs-CRP were 96.2% and 86.1%.Conclusions The detection of PCT and hs-CRP is helpful to the diagnosis of early neonatal sepsis.
