The Aesthetic Empathy in Translating Chinese Poems into English

Empathy is a psychological process people must go through in their aesthetic cognition.In literary creation,as an aesthetic subject,the author directly and affectionately perceives the perceptual object,projects his(her) own feeling analogical to this object from inside himself(herself) onto it and experiences this feeling as if it belongs to that object.Such a unique mental activity is known as empathy.In poem translation,a cross-cultural literary re-creation,empathy on the part of the aesthetic subject,the translator is also a must.Aesthetic empathy in translating Chinese poems into English include three aspects,namely,empathy to scenery,to objects and to people.
