The Issue of "Words" in Chinese as a Second Language

The Chinese grammar system in teaching Chinese as a second language was born along with New China's programs of teaching Chinese as a second language.For more than sixty years in the past,this system has offered substantial assistance to Chinese learners.Viewed from the developmental perspective,the basic frame and principles of this system should still be affirmed,as traditional grammar is the basis for teaching Chinese as a second language.Upon this basis, grammatical phenomenon and their usages(or rules) should be studied and described in a more careful and thorough way with help from other relevant theories when possible.Reasonable selection and arrangement of the grammar should be made according to the need of the teaching goals.
