Abstract

Objective: To compare effect of continuous wave of condensation technique and Guttaflow on C shaped root canal obturation. Methods: 60 mandibular molars with C-shaped root canal were collected, and randomly divided into 2 groups, with 30 teeth in each group. After root canal preparation, the root canals of each molar were then filled as followed: group 1: Guttaflow technique(GT),2: continuous wave of condensation technique(CW).The percentage of gutta-percha-filled area(GPFA) at the apical, middle and coronal levels of each group was analyzed by Image Plus Pro 16.0 software. Results:Statistical differences of GPFA was found between 2 groups(Mann-Whitney U test,P0.05).GT group showed better filling ability than the CW group in C3,C4 type.No statistical differences was found between two groups in C2 type(Mann-Whitney U test,P0.05).Conclusions:The Guttaflow system has better ability of root canal obturation than the continuous wave technique.
