Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the value of the sublingul gland excission in the treatment of ranula by analysing complications and results of management with the sublingual gland excission.Method:682 patients with ranula treated with the sublingual gland excission were studied retrospectively. The rate, sorts and reasons of the complication were analysed. Results of management were also presented.Result:Postoperative hemotoma, infection and numbness of the tongue were seldom. The most common complication was damage of sublingual gland duc(t1.91%),followed by recurrence of the ranula (1.76%).A case 7 times recurring after operations was reported.5 recurence patients were cured by intracystic injection of OK-432.Conclusion:The right mangeagement during the operation and postoperation of the sublingual gland excission could prevent severe coplication .The sublingual excision was still primary treatment of ranulas.Recurence could be settled combine the sublingual gland excision with intracystic injection of OK-432.
