Abstract
There exists symbiosis relation between the new institutionalism in the sociology of organization and the study of educational organization. On one hand, some notions and theories of the former result from the latter; on the other hand, the latter acquires a new theory approach by virtue of the former. Studies of the new institutionalism in the educational organization mainly focus on three themes: organizational isomorphism, decoupling structure and organizational change. Although the new institutionalism pays attention to the importance of environment, history and cognition in the analysis of educational organization, it also exist some deficits such as ignoring micro foundations, lacking critical conscious and practical irrelevance and so on.
