CXCL16 and inflammatory reaction of atherosclerosis

Abstract

Inflammatory reaction is one of the most important causes leading to atherosclerosis(AS) and chemokines are important in inflammation.Recent studies have found that chemokine cxcl16 is multifunctional and serves as chemokines,scavenger receptors and angiogenesis factors.Chemokine cxcl16 also has the ability to promote smooth muscle proliferation and facilitate the adhesion between cells.Chemokine cxcl16 is involved in AS inflammation reaction and a better understanding of this molecule and its role in AS may improve the prevention and treatment of this disease.
