0BJECTIVE To analyze epidemiologic characteristics of public health emergencies in Henan province during 20042010 and to provide systematic information for the government.METHODS Descriptive epidemiologic method was used to analyze characteristics of reported public health emergencies from China information system of diseases control and prevention.RESULTS From 2004 to 2010,644 cases of public health emergencies were reported in Henan,26 720 patients and 103 dead cases were reported.Among all reported cases,the infectious diseases and food poisoning were main events,with a overwhelming ratio of 92.08%.According to the distribution of places where the events broke out,rural areas and schools were the main sites,with ratios of 65.37% and 63.98%,respectively.CONCLUSION Infectious diseases and food poisoning control and prevention should be reinforced.Schools and kindergartens were high-occurrence sites of public health emergencies.In future,group diseases of unknown reason could be a critical part of public health emergencies,which we should pay close attention to.
