AIM:To investigate the effects of Xinfukang oral liquid on myocardial fibrosis and left ventricular performance in spontaneous hypertensive rat(SHR).METHODS:Twelve-week-old SHR(n=30)were divided randomly into 3 groups:SHR-C group(untreated),SHR-Y group(treated with enalapril)and SHR-X group(treated with the Xinfukang oral liquid),each group consisting of 10 rats.And 10 normal SD rats were used as the negative controls.Left ventricular end diastolic pressure(LVEDP),systolic blood pressure(SBP),heart mass index(HMI),left ventricular mass index(LVMI),maximal ascending and descending velocity of the left ventricular pressure(±dp/dt max)and left ventricular collagen contents and Ang Ⅱ,ALD of plasma were determined after 10-week treatment.RESULTS:After 10-week treatment,compared with SHR-C,the LVEDP,HMI,LVMI of SHR-Y and SHR-X groups were significantly decreased(P0.01 or P0.05);the±dp/dt max of SHR-Y and SHR-X groups were increased(P0.05),the left ventricular collagen contents and Ang Ⅱand ALD of SHR-Y and SHR-X groups were significantly decreased(P0.01 or P0.05).CONCLUSION:Xinfukang oral liquid can inhibit myocardial fibrosis and improve the function of the left ventricle.
