Abstract
[Objective] To explore the expression of E-cadherin in breast cancer and its clinical significance.[Methods] Immunohistochemical SP staining technology was applied to detect the expression of E-cadherin in breast cancer.[Results] The expression of E-cadherin in breast cancer was significantly lower than that in the normal breast tissues and fibroadenoma(P=0.005);Significant correlation existed between the decrease of the expression of E-cadherin and the TNM stage of breast carcinoma,infiltration and lymph node metastasis(P=0.000;P=0.014;P=0.000).The downward regulation of the expression of E-cadherin is related with the size of tumor(≥3cm vs 3cm,P=0.04).[Conclusion] Intercellular adhesion mediated by E-cadherin plays an important role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer.Downward regulation of E-cadherin is related with the infiltration and metastasis of breast cancer.
