Mosapride in treating functional dyspepsia: a multicenter, double-blind study

Abstract

AIM: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of mosapride in treating functional dyspepsia. METHODS: Two hundred and fifty five patients with functional dyspepsia were divided into two groups. Group mosapride of 127 patients (M 58, F 69; age 40 a± s 12 a) was treated with mosapride 5 mg po , tid for 4 wk. Group domperidone of 128 patients (M 61, F 67; age 39 a±12 a) was treated with domperidone 10 mg, po ,tid for 4 wk. RESULTS: In the group mosapride, the total effective rates of mosapride in treating epigastric pain, epigastric fullness, belch, decrease of food intake, early satiety were respectively 77.8%, 86.6%, 82.5%, 87.3% and 87.2%, they were higher than 63.5%, 75.0%, 69.6%, 74.1% and 74.5% in the group domperidone. The gastric half emptying time shortened for 15 min±13 min after treatment in the group mosapride. It was much longer than 5 min±16 min in the group domperidone. CONCLUSION: Mosapride is a new safe efficacious drug in treating functional dyspepsia.
