The treatise is to make a through inquiry to LIU Xie's idea on the folk literature in his great work ‘Wen Xin Diao Long’(The motive and the ornate rhetoric in writing)and to probe into the cause of his viewpoint.The author consider,to the folk literature,LIU Xie had a feeling of indifference,scorn,rejection and negation.The reason of development of the idea is very complicated.The purpose of this article is to clarify the true position which the folk literature in LIU Xie's work.
