Abstract

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic outcome of scleral buckling surgery in patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD).Methods Twenty-eight eyes with RRD were treated with scleral buckling combining with scleral cryocoagulation. All patients were followed up for at least 2 months. Results Twenty-seven eyes achieved retinal reattachment.Only one eye was detached at follow-up examination. The operation success rate was 96.43%.There were 20 patients whose visual acuity got to 0.3 during more than 2 months of follow-up.Among them 7 patients achieved 1.0.Conclusion Scleral buckling combining with scleral cryocoagulation for RRD achieves satisfactory efficacy and can be used in the treatment of RRD.
