Postoperative pain occurrence after applying different root-canal sealers

Abstract

Objective To compare the occurrence of postoperative pain after applying three different root canal sealers in root canal treatment.Methods A total of 404 teeth were randomly divided into three groups: group A using Zinc Oxide engenol(ZOE), group B using ZOE+iodoform and group C using Cortisomol sealer. The occurrence of postoperative pain was evaluated clinically 24-72 h after root filling.Results The difference in pain among the three groups were statistically significant after treatment. The group C caused minimum irritation and least pain among the three groups. Group A showed the most severe reaction. Conclusion The root canal therapy using Cortisomol sealer can significantly reduce pain.
