Abstract

As for the 1,133,800 troops the Emperor Yang-Ti of the Sui Dynasty used for his first conquest of Koreans, there are two versions of the filing. By one the number is the total troops of the emperor, and by the other the number is just the ground troops of the emperor. This difference has given rise to a continuous dispute in the historical circle. After a careful study, the writers of this paper have found out that the number is the total troops of the Sui Emperor, of which 1,046,600 are ground troops, 70,000 navy, and 17,200 northern or northwestern minority soldiers.
