Abstract

HU Shi抯 two aspects of philosophical conception derive from his special understanding of methodology. On the one hand, he emphasizes the specific method of science; on the other hand, he tends to consider the method of science as a spirit or attitude. People can find the two kinds of interpretations in his conception of philosophy. This fact shows his complicated attitude towards traditional Chinese culture: sometimes a ruthless critic for it, sometimes an enthusiastic advocate for its spirit.
