Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of p,p'-DDE on transferrin expression in Sertoli cells of rat testis in vitro. Methods The effects of p,p'-DDE on expression of mRNA of transferrin gene in primary cultured Sertoli cells exposed to p,p'-DDE for 24 h was examined by one-step RT-PCR methods. Results The transferrin mRNA levels were decreased with the increases of p,p'-DDE concentration in Sertoli cell cultures, and there was a significant dose-effect relationship(P0.05). Conclusion p,p'-DDE could inhibit the translation of transferrin in rat Sertoli cells cultured in vitro.
