Abstract
Objective To observe the levels of urinary TGFβ1 excretion among Type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients and the antifibrosis effect of Losartan in DN patients. Methods 33 Type 2 DN patients were selected.24-hour urine samples and fresh urine samples of patients pre-treatment and post-treatment were collected to measure urinary protein, creatinine excretion and urinary TGFβ1 excretion.Urinary TGFβ1 were determined by ELISA assay.Urine samples of 20 volunteers were measured as control. Results Compared with the control group, the total Urinary TGFβ1 excretion were significantly increased(P0.01).The levels of them were obviously descended after administration of Losartan.Obvious correlation between urinary TGFβ1 levels and proteinuria was found(P0.01).Conclusions Losartan has a significant antifibrosis effect on DN patients through the reduction of urinary TGFβ1 excretion. We speculate that the reduction of urinary TGFβ1 excretion may be a earlier event of remission of kidney disease than the decrease of proteinuria.
