Abstract

As a celebrated master of the traditional Chinese learning, ZHANG Tai-yan's studies on the Yi learning embodied the characteristics of times of the academic types' changes. In the interpretive methods alone, he mingled the methods from the ancient to his contemporary and interpreted the Yi from exegesis, science of history, sociology, Buddhism, and science, not only being novel in the academic history, but also embodying the multi-polarlty and modernity of the normal form of study during the academic types' changes, being able to be drawn on for later generations.
