Abstract

This study investigated the effects of glutamine on the growth performance and Immunity in early-weanling piglets.Eighty crossbred piglets(Landrace × Yorkshire) weaned at 28±1 days of age,were divided into 5 treatments based on weight and gender.Piglets in treatments were fed diets supplemented with 0,0.3%,0.6%,0.9%,1.2% glutamine,respectively.On 7 th,14 th and 21 th,growth performance and T lymphocyte proliferation rate were measured.Four pigs per treatment were injected with 1 mg/kg body weight of OVA.Serum samples were collected before injection and the 7th and the 14th after injection to analysis of OVA antibody level.The experiment showed:①Dietary supplements of glutamine could significantly increased average daily gain,average daily feed(P≤(0.05)),and decreased feed/gain;②Glutamine significantly improved immune ability of early-weaned piglets(P≤0.05).③Optimum supplemental level of glutamine dipeptide in diet for weaned piglets were 1.2 mg/kg.
