Abstract

Cognitive linguistics,as a new linguistic paradigm,provides a new perspective for metaphor study,embodiment is nature of metaphor.We analyze foundations of metaphor embodiment from perspectives of philosophy,linguistics,psychology and neurology.In addition,cross-domain mapping and similarity of metaphor based on body,psychology and cognitive embodiment are further explored.Finally,we propose that metaphor is embodied and motivated rather than arbitrary.
