Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical effect of a new type of thoracentesis device. Methods Totally 252 inpatients who needed thoracentesis from January 2006 to October 2008 were divided into trial group (n=152) and control group (n=100).The patients in the trial group were punctured by using a self-made thoracentesis device and those in the control group were punctured by using conventional thoracentesis package. The successful ratio of once puncture, time of successful puncture, average puncture frequency of each case, incidence of block up in puncture, incidence of complication, and rate of re-catheterization for routine closed drainage of thoracic cavity were compared between the two groups. Results The successful ratio of once puncture, time of successful puncture, average puncture frequency of each case, incidence of block up in puncture, incidence of complication, and rate of re-catheterization for routine closed drainage of thoracic cavity in the trial group were respectively 96.25%,(13.0±2.2)s,(1.6±0.5),2.08%,6.58%,and 1.97%,as compared with 78.52%,(16.5±3.5)s,(2.6±0.6),10.16%,37.00%,and 13.00% in the control group, there were statistical significances (P0.05).Conclusion The design of this new type device of thoracentesis is reasonable, and it is simple in structure, convenient in operation, safe and practical so that it is worth of spreading in clinical work.
