Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) and hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) in cervical cancer. Methods The expression of COX-2 and HIF-1α was examined by immunohistochemistry in 40 cases of cervical cancer and normal cervical samples adjacent to cervix carcinoma. Results The positive ratio of COX-2 and HIF-1α in cervical cancer was 67.5%(27/40) and 60.0%(24/40),which was significant higher than that in the normal cervical samples adjacent to cervix carcinoma(27.5%,22.5%,χ2=12.832,P=0.000;χ2=11.605,P=0.001).Conclusion The overexpression of COX-2 and HIF-1αmay be related to the oncogenesis and development of cervical cancer.
