Abstract

The Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata of great thickness in Liupanshan basin can be identified as upper Triassic, middle Jurassic ,lower Cretaceous,Teriary and Quaternary vertically. All but middle Jurassic are widely distributed. In this paper, from the Mesozoic to the Cenozoic strata sequence is defined, and five correlation marker formations are summed up through sufficient data of field gelolgic outcrop survey and comprehensive analyses. It is pointed out that there are mainly two sets of source strata developed in the upper Triassic and lower Cretaceous, with great source potential, and two corresponding sets of source-resevoir-seal assemblage have formed, so as to lay a good foundation for geological comprehensive analyses and oil gas exploration in Liupanshan basin.
