Abstract

In order to solve the serious issue of raw water pollution, the removal rate with three methods, such as dosing potassium permanganate solely, dosing powdered activated carbon solely and potassium permanganate combined with powdered activated carbon are investigated by using Jar test. The results show that the combined process of Potassium Permanganate and powdered activated carbon adsorption is effective for enhancing treatment of micro-polluted raw water. The removal rate of UV254 and turbidity can be improved by 7%~10% compared with the case when coagulants are used alone at the same coagulants dose.It also could decrease the optimum dose of coagulants while keeping the similar organic matters removal rate.
