Preliminary Study on the Bird Diversity Surrounding Nanchang University

Bird diversity was investigated surrounding Nanchang University from December 2008 to February 2009.There were a total of 43 species including 30 residents,9 winter migrants,4 summer migrants. For the avifauna,there were 26 Oriental,8 Palaearctic and 9 widespread elements. Three habitats(bush,forest and wetland)were investigated .There were 31 species in bush,23 species in broad leaved forest,26 species in wetland. Ten common species were found in the three habitats. The differences in bird composition in three habitats were caused by the differences in micro-environments of different habitats.
