Bird Diversity and Habitat Characteristics in Campus of Northwest A&F University

The species of bird in five habitats,including deciduous forest,coniferous forest,mixed forest,open forest and shrub communities,and turf,were investigated from May in 2008 to June in 2009 in campus of Northwest AF University.Fifty-one species belonging to 22 families and 9 orders were recorded.There were 35 residents,15 summer migrants and one travelers.There were 24 Palaearctic species,15 oriental species and 12 widespread species.The bird diversity analysis of different habitats showed that the highest diversity of the bird community(2.9632)and equitability(0.7979)was found in the deciduous forest,and the lowest diversity(0.7889)and equitability(0.3175)in the turf.The highest similarity of bird community was detected between the deciduous forest and the mixed forest(0.7945),and the lowest between the turf and the mixed forest(0.3182).
