Abstract
Single-layer osmotic pump controlled-release tablets loaded with doxazosin mesylate were prepared with polyethylene oxide of two different molecular weights as the penetration agent and propellant. In vitro drug release behavior and pharmacokinetics in Beagle dogs were compared with those of the reference preparation. The results showed that in vitro drug release pattern of the prepared tablets was fitted to zero-order kinetics, and similar to the reference preparation. The pharmacokinetic parameters showed that the two preparations were bioequivalent.
