Abstract
The development process of embryo and endosperm of Osmanthus fragrans “Wanziyingui” was observed by means of traditional paraffin wax sections. The following results were obtained:The development of embryo was of ongrad type. After undergoing a rest period, the zygote embarked on its first division, which took place at the later October, then the club-shaped,the globular embryo, the heart-shaped embryo and the fish torpedo-shape embryo, the cotyledon-shaped was developed before the fruit became ripe.At the heart-shaped embryo stage, the suspensor was well developed. The endosperm development of Osmanthus fragrans“Wanziyingui” was cellular type. The primary endosperm nucleus division was often prior to zygote, and it divided quickly. The endosperm cells surrounding the embryo were disintegrated during the development of embryo.
