Abstract
Objective: To explore a new spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace nitrite. Method: Based on the nitrosation reaction of methyl blue with nitrite in diluted hydrochloric acid medium, a new method was developed. Results: The linear range for the determination was 0~50mg/L NO_2~- . Most of coexistent ions did not interfere the determination of NO_2~-. When applied this method to the determination of nitrite in water samples, satisfactory results were achieved. Conclusion: The development of this method is successful.
