Abstract
The synthesis of a new reagent 1-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-(5-chloro-2-pyridyl)-triazene (NPCPDT) and its colour reaction with silver have been studied in this paper. In the buffer solution of Na_2B_4O_7-NaOH(pH 10.0) and with the existence of surface active agent of Triton X-100,the chromogenic reagent reacted with silver to form a complex with a molar ratio of 1∶1.This compound had a positive peak at 470nm,the apparent molar absorptivity was 1.46×105L·mol -1·cm -1.Beer′s law was obeyed in the silver concentration range of 0~12μg/25mL.The method has been employed to determine trace amounts of silver in photographic waste solution with satisfactory results.
