A Rending of Lu Jiuyuan's Mind being Reason

Abstract

When imperial examination system broke scholars' personality and the unreal and false custom of study was very popular,Lu Jiuyuan put the proposition of Mind being Reason forward in order return the real spirit of Confucianism set up by Confucius and Mencius.Mind being Reason requires that scholars be to stir oneself,illuminate the innocent mind,namely,enlighten the real reason given by the universe.Acting along with reason is the real way become a sage.Xiangshan's proposition of Mind being Reason is different from the school of Cheng and Zhu's.It has its special features,as well as shortcomings.
