Abstract

Objective To study the PTEN gene expression and its clinical significance in NSCLC.Methods The expression of PTEN was detected in 65 NSCLC and 18 non-cancerous lung tissues by the immunohistochemical staining. Results ①PTEN expression in NSCLC was 41.54% significantly lower than non-cancerous lung tissues 88.89%(P0.05).②The expression of PTEN gene significantly correlated with grade of cell differentiation,pTNM stages, lymph node metastasis and the survival date(P0.05).The lower cytodifferentiation was,the later pTNM stages was,the lower PTEN positive would be.The positive rate of PTEN was lower in lymph node metastasis(28.89%) than that in non-lymph node metastasis(70.00%).The positive rate of PTEN was lower in life span less than five years(24.39%) than in life span more than five years(70.83%).PTEN expression had no relevance with the pathological type. Conclusion PTEN expression significantly correlates with the clinico-pathologic,characteristics and biologic behavior in NSCLC.Detection of PTEN may be valuable for diagnosing lung cancer and evaluating malignant extent and prognosis.
