Abstract

Seed germination and seedling growth of Caryota urens are very slow, so the tests of different treatment, accelerating germination in different time and different treatment after accelerating germination had been done.The results show: (1) Growth regulator (ABT 3,indolebutyric acid and 2,4 dichloro phenoxyacetic acid) can improve the germination rate and promote growth of seedling. (2) Accelerating germination before sowing can promote seed germination in advance,and extend growth time of seedling, so annual seedling grow better. Accelerating germination after storage for 3 months can improve germination percentage at 10%~15%. (3) After accelerating germination, soaking seeds in solution of 50 mg/L ABT 3, 100 mg/L ABT 3 or 100 mg/L naphthalence acetic acid for 30 minutes can improve the rate of emerging seedling, but not promote greatly growth of seedling.
