Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of the tumor suppressor gene P33ING1,and to explore its relationship with apoptosis in bladder transitional cell carcinoma(BTCC).Methods The expression of P33ING1 was determined by Immunohistochemical SP in 83 cases of BTCC and 11 cases of normal bladder mucosa tissue.Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) was applied to detect the apoptosis. The apoptosis index (AI) were defined. Results The positive expression rate of P33ING1 protein was 59.03% in 83 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma, while the expression rate of P33ING1 protein was 90.9% in the normal bladder mucosa tissue. The expression of P33ING1 protein had close relation with the classification of BTCC (WHO).There was no significant relationship between the expression of P33ING1 and AI.Conclusion The lower expression of P33ING1 in bladder transitional cell carcinoma may be play important roles in tumorogenesis.Detection of the expression level of P33ING1 may be helpful in the treatment, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of patients with BTCC.
