Abstract
Objective To observe the change of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP) expression in rats'hippocampus after exposed to 8 Hz, 90 dB/130 dB infrasound for different times. Methods Rats were exposed to 8 Hz, 90 dB/130 dB infrasound 2 h every day for different times:1, 7, 12, 21 and 28 days. Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the time course of GFAP expression in rat's hippocampus. Results GFAP positive astrocytes increased after exposure for one times, reached it's peak at 14 day, decreased at 21 day and remained higher level at 28 day. The reaction of 130 dB group was stronger than that of 90 dB group. Conclusion 8 Hz, 90 dB/130 dB infrasound could active astrocytes in rats' hippocampus which might protect the neighboring neurons.
