Review of the research on expansive soil and expansive soil treatment

Abstract

Paper introduces the characteristics of expansive soil and its classification scheme,reviews the treatment method of expansive soil and expansive soil sub-grade. Lime,cement and fly ash are useful admixtures for expansive soil treatments,their relevant properties are summarized and analyzed. And a reasonable structure of expansive soil sub-grade is recommended. According to the characteristics of expansive soil and the research's status,some development trends are putted forward.
